A 25 year-old multi-disciplinary artist from Kolkata, India, having a BFA in Art History from Kala Bhavana, Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan, India, and MA in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies from Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA), Milan, Italy, I am a self-motivated practitioner of art with an aim to find higher prospects of developing my art-form in challenging opportunities. Working with the notion of varied individual experiences, I tend to create an illusionistic sense of being into my practice through miscellaneous experiments in the world of visual narratives. My works have been a part of the Students’ Biennale- Kochi Muziris Biennale, 2020, COP26, Glasgow, UNESCO, 2021, group exhibitions in Philadelphia and Brooklyn in 2022, along with exhibitions and screenings in Venice, Milan, Kolkata, Winnipeg, Biella, Haryana and Berlin amongst others between 2023 & 2025. I use acrylic, charcoal, ink, tattoos and digital media to convey the experiences I gather through the documentation of incidents, memories and scenarios. My current practice deals with tattooing as a medium of art. A tattoo is a permanent scar on one’s body that is put consciously onto the skin, a well organised and planned trauma of sorts Using neo-tribal tools that are not commercial tattoo machines, I produce permanent art on skin. Focusing on the remembrance of social changes, in respect to cultural histories, my research aims to draw references of inhabitance. The memory of the feeling itself comes from a familiarity that is one's own personal history. The research talks about how tattoos, in a post colonial shared world, are perceived in the contemporary urban society by the person owning the tattoo and the public. The importance of human bodies as an archive of memories plays a major role in provoking the human mind to re-experience their position in the given time and space. In the complexities of ever-changing positionalities, my research relies on the yearning of belongingness in the context of individual memories of existence.
